The EPI’s co-chair of the Secretariat, John Stephenson (left), travelled to Dodoma to meet Tanzania’s Minister for
Natural Resources and Tourism, the Hon. Dr Hamisi Kigwangalla (right) on May 19th. Tanzania is a founder member of the EPI, and the size of its elephant population, and the scale of poaching in recent years, make it a key player in elephant conservation.
Dr Kigwangalla stressed Tanzania’s support for the EPI, and its desire to play an active role. We hope to see Tanzania at the Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) Conference and the EPI’s Consultative Group meeting in London in October.
