The African Coalition

The Ivory Trade
Having successfully achieved its objectives, Stop Ivory formally closed in December 2020.

Stockpile Management
Stockpiles of ivory, and other wildlife products, accrue from carcasses found in the wild or seized from poachers and traffickers.

The Elephant Protection Initiative is dedicated to mitigating and, where possible, preventing, the conflict between elephants and people.

Chad

Chad was a founding member of the EPI in 2014. Chad’s elephant population has been badly affected by poaching and habitat loss, but has stabilised in recent years. The most important remaining population is in Zakouma National Park, now managed by EPI partner African Parks Foundation.
