Knowledge Exchange Trip for Angolan Rangers

Updated: Jul 25, 2023

With the generous sponsorship of Gardaworld, the EPI facilitated a ‘knowledge exchange’ visit of Angolan delegates to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya to observe and discuss best practice National Park Management and operations. For this purpose, specialised technical units conducted a number of demonstrations, including use of detection dogs, investigations practices, community involvement, wildlife monitoring and elite patrol units.

The exchange was conducted in partnership with Kenyan specialists 51 Degrees, and attended by the Director of the National Institute for Biodiversity and Protected Areas (INBAC) for the Ministry of Environment in Angola, Aristófanes Romão da Cunha Pontes, and two lead Wildlife Rangers, Eduardo Benguela and Veríssimo Fernando, who are responsible for training and ranger operations in Angola’s Quiçama and Luengue Luiana National Parks respectively.
