The EPI Foundation was delighted to support the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority (EWCA) in holding a "Training of the Trainers" workshop on Human-Wildlife Conflict (HWC) in Adama, from the 30th of December, 2021 to the 1st of January 2022. The workshop brought together wildlife experts from many of Ethiopia’s protected areas.
The EPI Foundation's Greta Francesca Iori, who helped co-ordinate the event, said, 'These are challenging times in Ethiopia, so it was particularly rewarding to bring together leading conservationists for such productive discussions on a critical issue. Over the course of the workshop EWCA officials demonstrated their dedication to conserving Ethiopia’s wildlife and securing a better future for communities living near conservation areas'.
In September, the EPIF hosted a high-level virtual event together with government officials from across Africa including, H.E Hailemariam Desalegn, Former Prime Minister of Ethiopia. At the event the EPIF screened a new film on the challenges facing Ethiopia's Babile Elephant Sanctuary, which can be viewed here. A full recording of the event can also be found here.
